Temptation Provides Opportunities
Matthew 4:1 teaches us that temptation provides you with opportunities. One of my sisters told me a while back to not take any opportunity for granted and I have been heeding that advice ever since. So now, I’ll tell you. Seize every opportunity that is presented and that doesn’t take you away from the purpose God has for you. The reason is, you won’t know if it’s the best opportunity or not until you take the step. Take temptation for example. On the surface, it looks brutal and lacks compassion. It is inconsiderate and simply horrid. But temptation can have its perks too. Being tempted gives you the chance to validate truth. I’ll pose a question.
Is He who’s in you greater than he who’s in the world or nah? (1 John 4:4)
When you’re tempted, it's your chance to prove your response to that previously posed question. One of the reasons God allows us to be tempted by the devil is to demonstrate the superiority of Jesus Christ. What does that mean? I’m glad you asked. It means that God can do more with “little” when that little is committed to him than he will do with much when much is in rebellion to him. I’ll take it a little further.
Hebrews 2:7 tells us that God made us (humans) a little lower than the angels. Now, although Satan and his crew are evil, they are still angels, just evil angels. We, humans, are less, compared to angels. Not less in the sense of value but in being. When the first Adam was tempted by Satan, he gave in which resulted in lifelong consequences, but the second Adam (Jesus), also a man (human), went to be tempted so that he could usher us back into the presence of God. Although humans are “less than” God can still use us to make powerful moves that even the “more” can’t stop. If Christ did it and his spirit is inside of you, then you can do it too, you just can’t do it alone. You have to use that power that’s inside of you. Take no opportunity for granted. Use every opportunity to glorify God. Be the proof that the world needs to see today!
